Construction VP of Operations Job Purpose:

As a member of the Executive Team, the VP of Operations’ purpose is to meet the objectives of the Sales Strategy of the Company through (1) leading the Sales Team (comprised of Division 8 and Division 10) by creating a collaborative and synergistic environment to successfully process projects from bid to completion, (2) managing the bidding, detailing and project management aspects of all projects to ensure successful acquisition and completion of projects – on time and within budget, (3) building relationships with the leadership team to promote a collaborative Company environment focused on customer satisfaction, and (4) building relationships with customers and in the community to promote the success of the Company and the Sales Team. This position contributes by maintaining the integrity of the Company’s relationships with its internal and external customers, meeting or exceeding the customer service standards of the Company, meeting or exceeding the Sales Strategy of the Company, and maintaining the reputation of the Company.

Construction VP of Operations Duties:

– Serve as business partner to Ownership, Executive Team, Management and other functional leadership, providing strategic support

– Develop the annual sales plan and go-to-market strategy in alignment with and support of the Company’s strategic plan and objectives (includes allocation of sales by types of projects and by customer to manage market conditions, trends and adjustments)

– Support, manage, train, and motivate the Sales Team to meet or exceed sales and project profitability goals and objectives by ensuring that Company’s performance meets or exceeds standards under its contracts to its customers.

– Collaboratively define, outline, and communicate compensation plans for Sales Team

– Recruit Sales Team professionals who exhibit the Core Values of the Company

– Lead development and management for successful sales acquisition and growth

– Manage, input, analyze and communicate all bid opportunities and requests

– Manage and review bid process timeline and awards to ensure timely response to inquiries and accuracy in the bid process

– Project and analyze sales trends, actual against goal, and customer development opportunities

– Manages and communicates Sales Team priorities to ensure Company, Sales and Customer Objectives are met

– Manage internal and external customer expectations and troubleshoot customer and job issues to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction – strongly supports Company’s core values.

– Serve as Company’s representative at selected industry organizations and seek board or leadership    positions

– Understand and monitor competitor information and data

– Manage Key customer relationships

– Develop effective training and incentive programs to enable Sales Team professional to meet

  their goals in line with the Mission and Vision of the Company

– Tracks status and award of bids until bid is released by customer

– Resolves discrepancies and jobsite issues as and when arise

– Maintain well-documented project records in Company computer system (e.g., electronic communications, change orders, approvals, etc.)

– Ensure successful completion of all managed projects on time and within budget

– Collaborate with Management on Company-wide best practices for delivering the correct materials on time and in accordance with contract requirements and to ensure cross-functional cooperation, team mentality and effective communication

– Collaborate with VP Finance & Compliance to create and follow best practices for timely and accurate billing and collection and to ensure cross-functional cooperation, team mentality and effective communication

Skills/Qualifications:

– Leadership professional who promotes a positive work environment and has experience in developing sales and project management teams

– 10 Years of Experience in Commercial Construction Industry

– 5+ Years of Project Management Experience
