Title: Construction Civil Site Superintendent (Ocala, FL)

Position Overview: The Civil Site Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the construction activities at a job site. They are responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget while meeting quality standards. The Civil Site Superintendent acts as a key point of contact between the construction team, contractors, suppliers, and project managers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project managers to understand project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
    • Develop a detailed construction plan, including schedules, manpower requirements, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
    • Coordinate and schedule activities with various stakeholders, such as subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  2. Construction Supervision:
    • Oversee and monitor all construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
    • Direct and supervise the work of subcontractors, ensuring that they adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues, defects, or deviations from project requirements.
    • Ensure the proper and efficient utilization of resources, including materials, equipment, and labor.
  3. Safety and Quality Assurance:
    • Promote and enforce a safe working environment by implementing and adhering to established safety protocols and regulations.
    • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and mitigate potential risks.
    • Monitor and enforce quality control measures to ensure that workmanship, materials, and installations meet specified requirements.
    • Document and report any safety incidents, accidents, or quality concerns, and take corrective actions as necessary.
  4. Communication and Documentation:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all construction-related matters on-site, liaising with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication channels with the construction team, providing guidance, instructions, and feedback as needed.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records, including daily logs, progress reports, change orders, and material tracking.
    • Collaborate with project managers to review and approve subcontractor invoices, ensuring they align with work completed.
  5. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
    • Identify and address construction-related issues, delays, and obstacles proactively.
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to develop solutions and implement necessary modifications.
    • Resolve conflicts or disputes that may arise between subcontractors, suppliers, or other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a Civil Site Superintendent or a similar role in construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a construction team and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and tools for project scheduling and documentation.
