Top 25 Reasons Employees Seek Other Opportunities

1.  The Job doesn’t fulfill the promises the employer made (ex: promised a project upon interview and then put on a different one after agreeing to accept the position)

2. The Job doesn’t meet the expectations of the candidate.  (The employment environment is not challenging or the reputation of the company is tarnished)

3. Coworkers are incompetent

4. The coworkers are unpleasant

5. The employee does not feel properly trained/qualified for the duties assigned to them

6. The supervisor is not well-respected in the organization

7. The job offers no potential for advancement

8. The employee excels, so threatens the supervisor’s job security or feeling or job security

9. The department/team/project the employee is on isn’t important enough to provide visibility

10. The “corporate culture” isn’t compatible with the employee’s personality

11. The employer offers no potential for advancement

12. The company has no obvious projects on the board and their project seems to be drawing near.  If the employee has not had communication on their next step within the company they will look outside the company for opportunity.

 

13. The employee does not want to relocate or travel when they have not had to before

14. The supervisor is difficult

15. New company policies that implement change without seeking his/her opinion at all
